York Student Ambassador Program

Junior School

York Student Ambassador Program

Student Ambassadors are leaders who promote the climate and culture of The York School and build meaningful relationships with new and prospective students. Our Grade 5 Student Ambassadors may be called upon to be greeters, and speakers at admission events, buddies during day visits, or tour guides.

Day Visit Buddies are assigned by classroom teachers (Grade 1-5) to welcome students having a shadow day on campus. This role provides an opportunity for our younger students to have some voice and agency in sharing the student experience with others and taking pride in their school.

Grade Partners Program

To help with the transition to Middle School and to support new students’ transition and integration into The York School community, all new incoming Grade 6 students are connected with a returning Grade 6 Student Ambassador who will act as their Grade Partner. Returning Grade 6 Student Ambassadors reach out to new incoming Grade 6 students through their parents via email in June of their Grade 5 year and are encouraged to connect over the summer - to introduce themselves, answer questions, share their experience, and offer sound advice about student life. This relationship is nurtured into the fall so that new students continue to feel welcome, connected, and supported. If your incoming Grade 6 child’s Grade Partner has not been in contact, please reach out to Natasha Estey, Manager, Admissions & Enrolment Management at nestey@yorkschool.com.
