Senior School Daily Schedule

The instructional day in the Senior school begins at 8:55am and ends at 4:00pm, except on Wednesdays when class will begin at 9:45am. Students will have the opportunity to enjoy an hour lunch during the instructional day.

Details regarding daily schedule:

  • Senior School day starts at 8:55am and ends at 4:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Wednesdays, the Senior School day starts at 9:20am

  • Homeroom begins at 8:55am (except on Wednesdays)

  • Classes start at 9:05am (except on Wednesdays)

  • Lunch begins at 11:40am until 12:40pm, except on Tuesday and Wednesday when it begins at 12:05pm until 12:55pm

  • Classes end at 4:00pm

  • Make Up Tests are written at 7:45am

  • Athletic Practices before school run from 8:00am until 8:45am

  • Athletic Practices after school run from 4:00pm until 6:15pm

  • Clubs, musical groups and other co-curricular activities mostly run at lunch and after school, although some musical groups practice in the morning, beginning at 7:45am

Student supervision at school

While our school day operates from approximately 8:15am (Junior School) to 4:00pm (Senior School), we offer early morning athletic practices and band rehearsals and many more co-curricular offerings after school.

For the safety of our students, Middle and Senior School parents are advised that their child(ren) must leave the campus by 6:00pm each day when our direct supervision concludes. Students may not remain on campus unsupervised unless there is a York School evening program such as Arts Night etc, where there is adult supervision at school.

Late Start Wednesdays

Late Start Wednesdays are a new addition to our Senior School timetable, offering students the opportunity for a slower start to the day, additional sleep, or flexible time for appointments or independent activities. This schedule change also provides essential weekly professional learning and collaboration opportunities for faculty, enhancing their ability to support student learning and well-being. Classes begin at 9:20 AM every Wednesday. For families requiring regular drop-off due to morning commitments or routines, supervision will be available at the usual time.
