Junior School Frequently Asked Questions

  • There is no available parking at the Junior School campus. There is a 15-minute “drop-off” zone on Yonge Street outside the front entrance of the Junior School during regular school hours. There is other, limited parking on Yonge Street. There are also several public paid parking lots within walking distance of the school.

    The York School families are not permitted to park in the Yorkminster Park Baptist Church’s parking lot, even for a short time.

  • The York School publishes an all-school e-newsletter that includes messages from the Head of School and Divisional Principals, and information about upcoming events and activities.

    The Flash will let you know what you and your child can expect in the week ahead. For example, If your child’s class will be participating in the Terry Fox Run, a student play or an arts showcase, you’ll find the details in this e-newsletter.

    School-wide celebrations are shared in the All School section. For easy navigation, the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools, and the YPA have their own news sections. The ‘Beyond York’ tab is for information related to university preparation and career development.

  • During the first week of school, your child will receive their timetable. It will also be emailed to parents by the homeroom teacher.

  • Please email:
    1639attendance@yorkschool.com and the homeroom teacher to report any absences. As well, if your child arrives late, please have them sign in with reception upon arrival.

  • The Junior School lunch programme will be provided every day for all Junior School students at no additional charge. While all students are encouraged to participate in the lunch programme, they are permitted to bring their own lunch from home. Restaurant deliveries or takeout food dropped off at the school are not permitted so that we can ensure our Nut Restricted policy.
